Moong dal chilka, also known as split green gram with skin or chilka wala moong, retains its natural green outer layer through splitting, making it meaningfully richer in dietary fibre, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory polyphenols than dhuli moong dal from which the skin has been removed. This is the version of moong dal that delivers the most complete nutritional profile: high in plant protein, naturally low in carbohydrates, rich in fibre that feeds gut bacteria and supports healthy digestion, and packed with the skin's concentrated antioxidant compounds that support immunity and reduce oxidative stress.
