Masoor dal, also known as red lentil or lal masoor, is one of India's most widely cooked and nutritionally significant pulses. Rich in plant protein, dietary fibre, iron, potassium, and folate, it supports healthy digestion, sustained energy, blood health, and heart function in a single everyday ingredient. It cooks faster than most dals without soaking, making it the most practical high-protein pulse in any kitchen, and performs equally well as a simple tadka, a comforting khichdi, a spiced soup, or a protein-rich chilla batter.
