Little Millet, known as Samai or Samalu in Tamil and Telugu, Saave or Saame in Kannada, and Sama in Hindi, is one of India's most ancient cultivated grains. Grown across tropical regions for centuries, it has fed communities that understood long before modern nutrition science arrived that this tiny, unassuming grain punches far above its size in nutritional value. Safe Harvest is bringing it back in its cleanest, most traceable form.

Safe Harvest Little Millets are grown by small women farmers in the drylands of Tamil Nadu, where the dry climate and traditional pesticide-free farming practices produce little millet with naturally superior grain integrity, a mild nutty flavour, and a clean eating quality.

Every batch is tested in NABL-accredited third-party laboratories for 230+ synthetic pesticide residues before it is packed. The lab report for your specific batch is publicly accessible. Scan the QR code on your pack and verify what you are eating before you open it.

Unpolished and minimally processed to retain every layer of its natural nutrition, Safe Harvest Little Millet is naturally high in dietary fibre, supporting healthy digestion, good bowel function, and sustained fullness throughout the day. It is a good source of protein and contains essential minerals including calcium, iron, potassium, and magnesium that support bone strength, healthy blood function, and the body's natural daily processes.

Its polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats support healthy weight management. Its rich antioxidant content helps reduce oxidative stress. It is naturally gluten-free and suitable for those with gluten sensitivity or those following a grain-free diet. With a glycaemic index of 50 to 55, it releases energy slowly and steadily, making it a considered dietary choice for people managing diabetes or overall metabolic health.

As a rice substitute, little millet is remarkably versatile. It cooks like rice, absorbs spices and flavours beautifully, and works across the full range of South Indian and North Indian everyday recipes.

Grown by our network of 1 lakh women farmers using pesticide-free practices and handled in dedicated clean facilities from harvest to pack, this is the cleanest, most traceable little millet in India.

What is pesticide free farming?

Picture this: birds on tiny perches scanning crops like vigilant sky-patrols, sunshine-yellow marigold borders keeping the bad bugs away, and a spicy cocktail of neem, garlic, and chili, made by our women farmers, controlling pests with flair. No synthetic pesticides sneaking into your kitchen. Working with nature, not against her. This, in a nutshell, is pesticide-free farming.
